Sometimes when we build a new house or building, we also need to build some “special room”. For example our workspace, that we definitely need to do our works. This room is slightly different than the other rooms in our house. Some kinds of this differences is like the lighting arrangement, the furniture sets, and the most important is the atmosphere must be very quiet. We certainly do not want disturbed by noises outside while doing our works. This is where the importance of choosing the right materials to build the workspace. The materials must be can actually muffle the various noise from the outside.

Many materials are available on the market to make this kind of room. Some made of wood, composite, a mixture of the cement with a various soundproofing materials, and also a very thick glass. This materials has a varying noise damping power. But nothing is 100 percent can muffle the sound to create a soundproof room. That’s why today there is a technology in the material creation which is devoted to build a soundproof room called double glazing. Sometimes this technique is also called insulated glass, based on the way of making this material.

Double glazing is glass consisting of two or more glass layers in a single frame.Between those two or more glass layers there is a distance that contains air or may be given a special glass and sealed with glass glue or sealant. This glass can be used to muffle the noise from passing vehicles, the shouts of children, or other noise pollution if you live in a densely populated neighborhood. So the voices would not disturb you who were busy doing a job. The vacuum in it can reduce the sound waves from the 30-40db (desibel), according to research in the laboratory.

Currently use of this double glazing is more varied, and applied to the various rooms as needed. The double glazing usefulness also varies, not only as a silencer. Among others, used to isolate the heat inside the house during the winter. The glass is very effective to isolate the heat because it has a vacuum in it. With isolated heat in the house would be greatly save the cost of electricity for heating. Because we do not need to turn on heating too long to keep the room stay warm. So the glass is also useful for energy savings

Another function of this double glazing is to double the security of your house windows. Because it is made from layers of glass so it is relatively strong to be protective of your home from thief or other unwanted situations. This is commonly referred to secondary glazing.
